Camden Splits Home Series with Southern Maryland

The Camden Riversharks split the series at home against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. They were defeated tonight with a score of 4-1. Dan Reichert was awarded the win, now 9-6 for the 2010 season. Southern Maryland Jim Ed Warden earned the save and Brad Knox was charged with the loss.

Southern Maryland was the first to score in today’s matchup. Shaun Cumberland had a leadoff double in the second inning. Jamar Hill followed with a single advancing Cumberland to third. Richard Giannotti was next to the plate and advanced the runners with a base hit to drive in the first run.

The Sharks solo run of the game came in the bottom of the sixth frame from first baseman Chris Malec. Malec singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch then scored after Brian Burgamy hit a ground ball double.

The visiting team put up their final two runs in the top of the ninth. Kody Kirkland scored the first run after tripling on his at bat and being driven in by a Jason Lane RBI single. Eric Crozier extended the Blue Crabs lead to make the score 4-1. He was intentionally walked advanced on the Lane single and scored from Travis Garcia’s single.

The Riversharks play their next game at Campbell’s Field on Tuesday, July 13th against the Somerset Patriots. They will remain home for a three game series. Listen to Tim Saunders and the entire radio team for the live broadcast of all the action.
